Technically speaking, Umlaut refers to the underlying linguistic process of vowel coloring; the two dots should properly be called Umlaut’s Monster.5 -

Good stuff! I agree that the vertical leg serifs for L don’t work; it needs that bit of funk to match with the non-orthogonal design in the graphic.1 -
